Transparent Solar Cells

A lab at UCLA has created a transparent solar cell that converts infrared light into electrical current. At this point, it’s only 4% energy conversion efficiency at 66% transparency, so obviously they’ve got a long way to go, but it’s definitely a start. I think this sort of thing is going to be a big part of the future of renewable energy. Power generation happening everywhere, rather than being limited to huge power stations.
